The school community, students, staff and administration of Orozco Academy welcome you to our school.  We want to provide you with the most important insights that have made Orozco Academy one of the best schools in the South West side of Chicago.

Orozco academy houses three different programs.  The Pre-K sponsored by the Ready to Learn CPS initiative.  At Orozco we have a part time Pre-K program with two shifts: one in the morning and the other one in the afternoon. The first shift goes from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and the second shift goes from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Also, we have a Gifted Bilingual Spanish Program that goes from K-8.  In this program we have a CCSS based accelerated curriculum.  Students exiting from this program are highly sought in selective enrollment high schools.  We also have a regular middle school program that serves students in the Pilsen community from 6th through 8th grade.  

Some of the school amenities include a cooking kitchen, three science labs, a state of the art fitness center, a library media center, and a clinic with an MD to take care of our students’ health needs when necessary.

With regards to Technology, Orozco is at the very technological forefront: we have 21 iPads Carts (each iPad is equipped with a keyboard), Smart Boards in 80% of the classrooms ( the school is moving forward to have 100%), a computer lab that has 34 Dell PC's, a Library with a iMac Lab, 100 MacBooks for Student use and student printers in all floors.  We have enough technology devices to accommodate a one to one ratio of device per student to use at school.  In addition, we also have a learning garden and a learning beehive.  Our after school program offers a great variety of programs such as sports, violin, choir, Mariachi, ballet folklore, reading club, science club, etc. In other words, we provide our students with a well-rounded education.

With the integration of Art, Science, and technology we aim to develop the student creative capacity to its fullest extent so they can be engaged in activities such as: inventing new devices, developing a scientific oriented attitude to pursue careers such as medicine, architecture, engineering, etc.  If your child is curious, is constantly asking questions, has a inquiry attitude and like exploring & creative activities, then Orozco is the right instructional place for him/her.  The profile of the graduated student at Orozco includes the following skills: analytical capacity, problem solving abilities, a second language (in the gifted center only), team player, high developed technological skills, well developed skills to work in a diverse environment, high order thinking skills, ethics and a strong moral character. 

At Orozco we have an outstanding and experienced staff.  Many of them are gifted trained and National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) Our commitment is to provide an ambitious, rigorous CCSS instructional curriculum school wide.  To support effectively the needs of all out students we also provide a differentiated instruction.  The school also has a socio emotional curriculum to support students to achieve their academic goals.
